1 The Starting Point: A Stalled Organic Channel
When Vertex SaaS came to us in Q3 2024, they had 14,200 monthly organic visitors, zero topical authority, and a domain rating of 28. Their content strategy was reactive — blog posts written whenever the marketing team had time, targeting high-volume keywords they had no hope of ranking for. Paid CAC was $340 and rising. The mandate: make organic the primary growth lever within 6 months.
2 Phase 1 — Intent Architecture (Weeks 1–4)
We ran a full competitor gap analysis across their top 8 rivals, identifying 1,247 keywords they were losing to competitors with lower domain authority. The insight: their rivals ranked for mid-funnel comparison and alternative keywords — "best [product type] for [use case]" — that Vertex had entirely ignored. We built a 90-page content plan structured around 11 intent clusters, each mapping to a stage of the buyer journey.
3 Phase 2 — Link Velocity Campaign (Weeks 4–12)
Domain rating 28 is the ceiling at which most SaaS companies stall. We ran a targeted link acquisition campaign focused on SaaS integration directories, software review sites, and partner co-marketing. In 8 weeks, we secured 94 referring domains with a median DR of 52. Vertex's DR climbed from 28 to 41 — enough to compete in mid-difficulty SERPs.
4 Phase 3 — Content at Scale (Weeks 8–24)
With topical architecture defined and link equity growing, we shipped 3 content pieces per week using our AI-assisted editorial workflow. Each piece was 2,000–3,500 words, included original SaaS performance data, and targeted a specific intent cluster node. By week 24, 61 pages ranked in the top 10. Organic traffic reached 63,594 monthly visitors — a 347% increase.
